Analytics
Analytics
At LEGO Education we are committed to using data in a transparent, conscientious, and responsible manner. In order to accomplish our mission, and in line with any local data regulations and laws, in some regions, the SPIKE App collects anonymous, app performance data from app installations. To determine the region where an app installation is located, the SPIKE App reads the IP address* of the device where the SPIKE App is installed. The IP address is then removed from all other data for anonymization and is only stored on secure servers for security purposes only. We promise to limit our use of data for the purposes of creating, fixing, and enhancing digital experiences that will advance the impact, accessibility, and interest in STEAM education. We do not share data with 3rd parties.
To determine if 1st party analytics are enabled or disabled in your region, navigate to SPIKE App > Settings > General to see if “Allow analytics” appears as an option. See examples below.
Example: Analytics are enabled
The SPIKE App collects anonymous app performance data that informs LEGO Education about how the app is running and executing tasks. This information is gathered and analyzed for the sole purpose of improving the SPIKE App experience for users and does not require a login and does not detect any personal information about individuals using the app. App performance data are anonymized and are used for the purposes of creating, fixing, and enhancing digital experiences that will advance the impact, accessibility, and interest in STEAM education.
Users can choose to “opt in/opt out” of the SPIKE App collecting app performance data. This option is found within the SPIKE App Settings > General.
Example: Analytics are disabled
In line with local data regulations and laws, personal information (excluding IP addresses, which, under most circumstances, are not personal information) and app performance data are not collected from the SPIKE App.
For more detailed information, please see the SPIKE App Cookie Policy below.

For the purpose of transparency, there are times at which LEGO Education might still collect anonymous information from the device where the SPIKE App is installed. This is only done when it is necessary to facilitate internet communication or when strictly necessary to fix an issue that prevents users from utilizing the SPIKE App with the Hub, such as connectivity errors.
